So many exciting activities are happening at RR! Our students and staff are actively preparing for state testing, and we are looking forward to the upcoming Kinder Circus, which is always a special experience for our school. We recently held our Eco Hero Assembly, where students learned meaningful ways to support and care for our environment. In addition, the PTA completed their nominations, and we are excited to work with the new nominees as we look ahead to next school year.
As a final reminder, attendance and arriving on time are critical to student learning. While we have been holding the gates, moving forward we will be closing them on time so that students can be in class, settled, and ready to learn at the start of the day at 7:50.
Please note: There will be no school next week for Spring Break. School will resume on April 7th.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
For the safety of all students, please do not drop students off in the middle of the parking lot. Students should not walk through the parking lot without adult supervision.
During student dismissal, please do not block the entrance driveway. For safety reasons, the driveway must remain clear at all times to allow access for emergency vehicles and school buses. We ask that all families refrain from stopping or parking in this area.
在学生放学期间,请勿阻挡学校入口车道。 出于安全考虑,入口车道必须始终保持畅通,以便紧急车辆和校车通行。请家长不要在该区域停车或临时停靠。 感谢您的配合,共同维护校园安全。
Please be reminded that parking is not permitted in the Canyon Hills Junior High turnabout on Tuesdays, as the junior high has an early dismissal on that day. Vehicles left in the turnabout unattended obstructs student dismissal and are subject to towing. We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep dismissal safe and orderly for all students.

🚫IMPORTANT INFORMATION🚫
DO NOT PARK ON THE RED FIRE LANES, LOADING ZONES, STAFF PARKING SPACES, OR DOUBLE PARK BEHIND ANY PARKED VEHICLES.
DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR WHILE YOU ARE WAITING IN THE PICK UP ZONE.
|
 |
To ensure the safety of all students, staff, and families during arrival and dismissal, Rolling Ridge Elementary has established the following procedures for drop-off and pick-up. Your cooperation is essential to keeping everyone safe and maintaining a smooth traffic flow.
DO NOT BLOCK THE DRIVE WAY ENTERING THE SCHOOL. WE NEED IT CLEARED FOR SCHOOL BUSES AND EMERGENCY VEHICLES.
🚗Entering the Parking Lot
· Enter by making a RIGHT TURN ONLY while heading north on Calle San Marcos.
· Follow the green path shown on the map located on the back of this handout and pull all the way forward before stopping.
· Wait until your vehicle is in the designated green unloading zone before allowing your student to exit.
· For your child’s safety, place your vehicle in PARK before they exit.
🧒Trunks & Belongings
· Do not access your trunk while in the drop-off/pick-up line.
· If you need to load or unload items, park in a designated space to avoid blocking traffic and to ensure safety.
🚸Drop-Off Guidelines
· Students may only exit vehicles in the GREEN unloading zones.
· Do not stop or unload in RED zones along Calle San Marcos — this is prohibited for safety and emergency access.
· Double parking is not allowed, including parking in staff spaces, blocking other vehicles, or leaving your car unattended in undesignated areas.
· If you must exit your vehicle, use unmarked or 15-minute visitor (YELLOW on map) parking only.
· Use designated (BLUE on map) pedestrian walkways and ramps; do not cross the driveway or street on foot.
Exiting the Parking Lot
· Two exit lanes are available to help improve traffic flow (see map).
· These lanes will merge near the parking lot exit—please drive courteously.
· Exit with a RIGHT TURN ONLY, continuing north on Calle San Marcos.
🧒 Student Pick-Up
- All students will be escorted to the front of the school for pick-up.
-
Only Preschool and Kindergarten parents may park and walk to pick up their children.
🏞️ Safety Reminder: Nearby Park
- There is no school supervision at the park on the corner of Calle San Marcos and Olympic View.
- Please be aware that this area may not be safe for students to remain unsupervised after school.
🚶 Pedestrian Safety
-
Do not walk across the traffic lanes or the entrance/exit of the parking lot.
- Always use sidewalks and designated crosswalks.
- On Calle San Marcos, cross only at marked crosswalks — no jaywalking!
|
|
Important Reminders
- These procedures are designed to protect students and staff and to minimize traffic delays.
- Please share this information with any adult who may be responsible for dropping off or picking up your child.
- If you arrive late to pick up your student, you will need to sign them out from the office. In order to sign them out you will need to show a valid Photo ID. Anyone picking up your student must be on the student’s emergency contact list and show a valid Photo ID.
- Arriving by 7:30 AM will help to avoid morning traffic and the stress of being late.
- Join us for FREE BREAKFAST, available every day beginning at 7:20 AM.
- Dismissal is at 2:30 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and at 11:20 AM on Wednesdays unless otherwise noted in our Weekly Newsletter sent out via Parent Square. Please arrive on time to avoid unwanted delays during pick-up.

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!
The California State Education Code requires school attendance for minors. Students should regularly attend all classes on time. Be in line by 7:48 a.m. and in class by 7:50 a.m. If a student is absent, PLEASE NOTIFY THE SCHOOL on the first day of the absence before 9:00 a.m. If parents are unable to call on each day of an absence, the student, upon the first day of his/her return, MUST bring a written note from a parent or guardian. You have three days to clear your child's absence. Please contact the school office in advance of any long-term (5 or more days) unavoidable absence to arrange a schedule of the work to be completed by the student. This must be done at least one week in advance.
TARDY POLICY
All students must be in line with all necessary materials for the day when the tardy bell rings or they will be considered tardy. A student will be marked "tardy" if they are walking through the gates when the "tardy bell" rings. Otherwise, consequences of "tardies" will be as follow:
The first tardy will result in a warning. A student that is tardy again with a medical excuse will be given the opportunity to make-up the instructional time which was lost. Subsequent "tardies" will result in further disciplinary action left up to the administrative discretion which may include a referral to the School Attendance Review Team (SART) if the number of "tardies" is deemed excessive.
|
Early Check Out
Instructional time is critical to students' progress; please try to schedule medical appointments after school hours. Please notify the teacher before early checkout (at least 24 hours in advance). Students who are checked out early lose valuable instruction time and should only be checked out for family emergencies or medical appointments.
In some cases when students must be absent from school, short-term independent study is available to avoid the truancy declaration and to help return funding. Independent study does have specific guidelines. The office has more information. (Independent study guidelines are subject to change).
|
|
|
Please report your student's absence as soon as possible. Homework requests need to be submitted by 9:00 AM. You can report an absence by:
- Call the Office (909)628-9375
- Submit the absence through Parent Square (web based or application)
-
Email our clerk II (Attendance & Registration), Janet Rocha, at janet_rocha@chino.k12.ca.us
Here is a simple guide to help you decide when to keep your student home from school:
Fever
· Stay home if a fever is 100.4 F or higher.
· Return when fever has gone away without fever-reducing medication for a full night.
Diarrhea
· Stay home if your student’s stool is likely to leak or if they are unlikely to make it to the toilet in time. If the stool looks bloody or black, seek medical attention.
· Return when improving.
Vomiting
· Stay home if vomiting has occurred two or more times in 24 hours.
· Return when vomiting has ended overnight, and your student can hold down liquids and food.
|
|
|
A health technician is on campus five days a week for 5.5 hours daily. The school nurse is on campus 2 days a week.
Students are not allowed to carry any type of medication with them during the school day.
A health technician cannot administer any medication without written and signed instructions from your medical professional.
Before administering medication, a signed medication request form for the current school year must be on file in the Health Office.
